My name is Virginia Franklyn. I am based in Colorado Springs, Colorado and have been playing the bagpipes since 1996. I have successfully competed both in solos and band settings throughout North America. I have experience playing weddings, funerals, celebration of life ceremonies, birthdays, retirements, work functions, senior centers, and more.
I play a wide variety of tunes and am well versed in the history and workings of the bagpipe as well as some Scottish and Irish folklore. I love playing for people and spreading the love of the Great Highland Bagpipe.
Interested in learning the bagpipes or furthering your bagpipe experience? I can help! I teach beginners and more experienced students and work to foster the love of the instrument and its music.

“I cant even begin to explain how happy I was with Front Range Bagpiping! Virginia did an excellent job playing for my family reunion in June. She catered her performance to our Irish roots, playing Irish tunes and giving a history of the bagpipe in between songs. She came into our area already playing her bagpipe, which was so amazing, and left our area still playing!! Virginia was prompt, communicative and so very personable. Her prices are reasonable and competitive. I highly recommend Front Range Bagpiping, and cant wait until I have another reason to ask her to play for us again!!” – Rhonda
“We highly recommend Front Range Bagpiping! We had a wonderful experience with Virginia as she played for our niece’s funeral. She was very responsive, and she was so kind as to accommodate our last-minute request. She took the time to gather information about the funeral service, and once there, she coordinated with the funeral director. Her music was absolutely beautiful and a touching addition to a heartbreaking situation. Many in attendance commented on the wonderful touch she added to the ceremony. Thank you, Virginia, for all you did to make this a special ceremony” – Michelle
“Virginia was so nice and very professional. She was very flexible with the all the chaos with dealing with the grieving family. I could not thank her enough for the job she did.” – Ariane
“I’m a managing funeral director with a company with five different funeral homes. I had the extreme fortune to meet Virginia, a family hired to play at their loved ones’ Mass of Christian burial service and Irish wake. The service was excellent, but the gorgeous addition of Virginia playing bagpipes at the church entrance took it to a different level of ethereal beauty. Afterward, people talked about the pretty flowers but raved about the exquisite bagpipes that brought everyone joy. All five funeral homes now use her for our services, where a bagpiper is requested. Virginia is a jewel of rare quality.” – Amy
“Virginia was willing to play on short notice. On the day of our event, she was prompt and talented, even in the cold (40°) temps!” – Patricia
